The FDLA is heartbroken by the senseless death of George Floyd. We join the millions of people who are advocating against racial injustice in an effort to ensure the equal protection of all under our system of laws. We can and must work together to ensure that the principles of fairness and equity that are the cornerstones of our country and our legal system are uniformly applied, regardless of race. The FDLA welcomes the opportunity to learn and hear from members and non-members on how we can do a better job to foster diversity and advance the interests of diverse lawyers. We stand ready to listen and act.
In the coming months, the FDLA is committed to offering programing and events that support our goals of diversity and fairness. We are currently working on new online programming to help move the conversation forward, and it is our hope that members and non-members alike will reach out to any of our leadership team to suggest topics or discussion modalities that would be helpful. We recognize that the commitment to ending racial inequality and promoting diversity will not be accomplished in a day or a year, and that in so doing, we as an organization are committed to promoting these ideals in to the future.
